Sportsland SUGO

Sportsland SUGO (スポーツランドSUGO) motorsport race track is located at the Miyagi Prefecture’s Murata Town. It’s one of the largest motorsport facilities in Japan with the area of over 2.1 million m². The facility is surrounded with beautiful rural setting and it offers for specialised racing courses. It’s also called as the “Holy Site for Motorsports in Tohoku“.

The tracks

You can find three different tracks at Sportsland SUGU:

  1. International Road Racing Course
    • Circuit length: 3,737 m
    • Turns: 14
    • Max. straight length: 704.5 m
    • Course width: 10 – 12.5 m
    • Elevation: 69.83 m
    • Pits: 45
  2. West Course
    • Circuit length: 943.3 m
    • Elevation: 9.9 m
  3. International Motocross Course
    • Circuit length: 1,600 m
    • Jumps: 13

For spectators

The Sportsland SUGO circuit provides multiple ways of enjoying races at the tracks. The grandstand can host up to 12,000 people, however if you can also watch races from the first corner which has around 1,800 capacity. The SP stand with a perfect view at a very technical section of the course has a capacity of 8,000 people and the Chicane stand around 4,000. You are also able to use the land cart to move around the park and watch the game, which is a very interesting option. The circuit is also a great place to enjoy motorsports while having picnic with your friends or family.

Access to Sportsland SUGO

Access to Sportsland SUGO is very convenient by car also by public transport from Sendai city.

  • From the Sendai airport or Sendai central by car
    •  Take Route 25 which links Sendai and Murata – approximately 40 min
  • From Tokyo by car
    • Take the Tohoku Expressway and get off at the Murata junction. From there take Route 31 South and then Route 25 East to the circuit – approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes
  • From Tokyo by public transport
    • Take the Tohoku Shinkansen line from Tokyo to Sendai. From the railway station take a taxi (35 min)

Tips for visiting the Sportsland SUGO

There are many events held at the Sportsland SUGO circuit all year long, therefore it’s a motorsport fan’s paradise. You can not only enjoy different type of races from car, motorcycle, motocross and karts but can involve in different driving activities. These activities involve test drives, kart renting and racing, improving yours or your kids driving ability, licensing for racing and many others. The location is very convenient by being very close to Sendai city where finding accommodation is very easy and where you can enjoy sightseeing and nightlife too.
